NRL stars Ryan Hoffman, Jarryd Hayne and Israel Folau all have rugby league links with the Macarthur region and the trio have been selected in the opening game of the State of Origin series next Wednesday, May 21, at ANZ Stadium at 8pm.
Hoffman, 24, and Hayne, 20, will take their places for NSW while Folau, 19, who played his junior football with the Minto Cobras, will make his debut as a centre for Queensland.
Under State of Origin eligibility rules, it is where the player began his first senior football when aged 16, which determines their origin status.
Folau, who moved to Queensland with his family as a boy, played his initial senior football with Brisbane Norths the Melbourne Storm's feeder club.
Folau debuted in the NRL with Melbourne last year, won a premiership and played for Australia in the space of nine months.
The towering centre recently signed a four-year deal worth a reported $2 million with Brisbane from 2009 until 2012, where he will re-join his parents who now reside in Brisbane. Hoffman is a former Campbelltown Collegians junior who played with Wests Magpies teams, but signed with Melbourne Storm in 2003.
Hayne, 20, grew up in Minto, played his junior football with Cabramatta and plays with Parramatta in the NRL. No Wests Tigers players were selected in the origin match.
