Woman shot in hip during siege

A 44-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a five-hour siege at a house in Ellen Grove, on Brisbane's southside.Police said the man was involved in an argument with a man and a woman at the Bagnall Street house about 5pm yesterday, and fired shots, one of which hit the woman on the hip.The couple escaped the house before police arrived and began negotiations with the man who surrendered five hours later about 10.30pm.The woman was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.The man was charged with two counts of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, unlawful wounding, dangerous conduct with a weapon, discharge of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon.He will appear in Brisbane's Magistrate's Court tomorrow.In another incident, a 22-year-old man was badly wounded when he was stabbed in the stomach at Geebung, on Brisbane's northside yesterday.He remains in a critical but stable condition at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.Police allege the man was stabbed with a knife during an altercation with a 28-year-old man at a home on Newman Road around 2pm.The older man was arrested at the scene and charged with grievous bodily harm.He will appear in Sandgate Magistrates Court tomorrow.
